WEEK NO. 4
I haven’t written the final episode… Well I haven’t finished but I have started it. I am about two phrases in and I decided to make it a waltz, in c# minor. I am quite happy with what I have so far:
I can’t decided wether to go back up to c# or keep descending to g#, I am wanting more chromaticism for this final episode so which either way the next chord will be a chromatic chord. We will see how that works out.
I wrote this in the latter half of this week, I wrote the first 10 in the beginning of the week but got stuck. I spent most of day 1 and 2 brainstorming and on day 3 I decided to abandone the idea and do a new one.
I have been studying J.S. Bach’s inventions in counterpoint class and I felt inspired. I first wrote a melodic minor scale to see all the notes in the key of c# minor and also wrote out the triads found in the scale:
After doing this I wrote a few measures of a two voice invention in c# minor:
I am quite pleased with what I wrote, I feel as though it sounds baroque-y. I could not create a counter subjunctive I was pleased with. This is something I will ponder a bit because I really like the idea of a two voice invention as the final episode. After this episode I will write a short codetta to the refrain just to close up the piece.
I FORGOT TO MENTION, I decided to make the first episode the refrain and the refrain the first episode. If you can recall the passed weeks, I wrote a refrain in d minor/ F Major and an episode which was in E Major—well now the refrain is the light hearted E Major section do the and first episode is the dark d minor section influenced by Symphony Fantastique.
The goal is two have this and the codetta written by the end of next week and after that, I will begin working on some cover art for the video track. AND come up with an actual title to this short rondo medley. SEE YA NEXT WEEK!
